Happily Ever Endings: Whispers at Moonrise by C.C. Hunter
What is it?
Happily Ever Endings was created by Amber of Down The Rabbit Hole due to the relatively frustrating feeling one has when it has been a while since they have read a book and now they are unsure of how it ended. This tends to be a problem when that book is part of a series. AND SO... this fabulous idea was brought to life. Obviously, there will be spoilers...so if you haven't read the book... don't read the post. There is also a mega list of posts which you can find over at Down The Rabbit Hole. Link on sidebar.
WARNING: THIS IS NOT A REVIEW AND DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ WHISPERS AT MOONRISE DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS POST.
Goodreads Summary:
Even at a camp for supernatural teens, Kylie Galen has never been normal. Not only can she see ghosts, but she doesn’t seem to belong to any one species—she exhibits traits from them all. As Kylie struggles to unlock the secrets of her identity, she begins to worry that Lucas will never be able to accept her for what she is, and what she isn’t…a werewolf. With his pack standing in their way, Kylie finds herself turning more and more to Derek, the only person in her life who’s willing to accept the impossible.
As if life isn’t hard enough, she starts getting visits from the ghost of Holiday, her closest confidante. Trouble is, Holiday isn’t dead…not yet anyway. Now Kylie must race to save one of her own from an unseen danger before it’s too late—all while trying to stop her relationship with Lucas from slipping away forever. In a world of constant confusion, there’s only one thing Kylie knows for sure. Change is inevitable and all things must come to an end…maybe even her time at Shadow Falls.
The breathtaking fourth installment of the New York Times bestselling Shadow Falls series from author C. C. Hunter...Whispers at Moonrise.

I think for this HEE I'm going to break it down by character:
Kylie: Our favorite "what the hell are you" supernatural heroine. After getting shipped off to Shadow Falls Summer Camp in book one she has since discovered she is some sort of lizard. ;) Chameleon, in fact, which is apparently a creature that is able to maintain the DNA of all the supernatural races making her a "super freak," but I mean come on what can't this girl do??? So far in the series she has.... used super hearing, talked to ghosts, invaded other peoples dreams (dreamscaping), turned her pet skunk back into a cat, made a paperweight hit her camp co-leader in the nads, super strength, super speed, healed her best friend from cancer, and OH yea brought her other camp leader back from the dead. and THOSE are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Basically, Kylie is awesome and no one knows what the hell she is except for the other Chameleons but they seem to think that she needs to run off and live with them or she will be in mortal danger from the FRU or Mario's secret underground band of Rouges. Kylie, however, is not too keen on leaving Shadow Falls to run away with her long lost family.
Lucas: Sexy Werewolf. :) (and my personal favorite) Kylie and Lucas are a couple at the start of this book... but Kylie begins to feel neglected when he admits that he needs to keep secrets from her regarding his quest of getting onto the Werewolf council. He basically says that they have to date in secret because his daddy won't let him date someone who isn't a werewolf. Lucas goes along with that because he wants to be allowed on the werewolf council so he can change some of the rules that he doesn't want to live with...ie... having to marry a werewolf. As the book progresses, Kylie gets more and more frusterated with the fact that Lucas is never around and then seems to get pissed when she's around Derek. Turns out at the end of the book Fredricka tells Kylie that Lucas is about to get engaged. Kylie freaks and runs to the ceremony hoping it isn't true. Of course, it is and she is heartbroken as she watches/listens to the guy she's in love with pledge his soul to another girl. She runs back to her cabin where Lucas is waiting...he tries to defend himself and say that he told her it meant nothing and professes his undying love to Kylie. Kylie, however, just gets more pissed that he's telling her this right after she heard him say it to someone else. Basically this is the final straw that pushed Kylie to run off with her grandparents and live with the other Chameleons.
Derek: Half- Fae Hottie. Everyone...and I mean Everyone in this book seems to want Kylie to pick Derek...well except Lucas of course. Derek is the compassionate guy that admitted to Kylie that he loved her but didn't expect her to say it back. Derek is never not there for Kylie...except that one time when he screwed up and let her go because he was nervous about her feelings for Lucas...oh yea and then slept with his ex gf Ellie. Ooops. Basically, Derek is sitting around waiting for Lucas to screw up and making sure that he uses his empathy abilities to help Kylie.
Holiday: Kylie's Shadow Falls camp leader/ mentor through the whole "what the hell am I?" quest that Kylie has been on since book 1. They have developed a very sister-like relationship and would do anything for each other. Holiday's twin sister Hannah, who slept with Holidays ex- fiance Blake right before their wedding, shows up to Kylie in ghost form warning of Holidays upcoming demise. Kylie and Burnett try to figure out who the killer is before it's too late. Well they fail on that front and walk in on Collin Warren, new teacher at Shadow Falls with a dead Holiday curled up on the floor. Kylie runs to her and heals her with her bring back the dead powers.
Burnett: The "temporary" co-camp leader who is madly in love with Holiday. He is also the camps FRU rep and has a hard time balancing his loyalties between the two when they have conflicting viewpoints. The FRU wants Kylie to undergo a few of their "tests"...which both Kylie and Holiday refuse to let her take considering the FRUs history with "testing." Oh yea and that is exactly how Kylie's grandmother Heidi was killed. He is a vampire and seems to possess the ability to see and hear spirits...which we don't really know a lot about at this point. At the end of this book... he ends up asking Holiday to marry him...she says yes.
Della: Vampire, needs to take anger management classes. Probably Kylie's best friend at Shadow Falls. She really doesn't do a whole lot in Whisper at Moonrise... other than argue with Miranda and follow Kylie around.
Miranda: Witch...not a great one either. She is dating Perry super shape shifter. Miranda really doesn't do much in this book either... except suck at magic. :)
Hayden: New teacher at Shadow Falls. Kylie thinks he's the villian the whole book but of course he's the good guy. And what's more? He's also a Chameleon, and was sent by Kylie's grandfather to keep an eye on her. After Kylie decides it's time to leave the camp, Hayden is the one that she goes with.
Fredricka: Angry werewolf who is madly in love with Lucas. Most of the series we...as well as Kylie...hate her, but at the end of this book she is the one who kills Collin and saves Kylie's life. She is also the person who informs Kylie of Lucas's pending nuptials. Basically we learn that Fredricka...not half bad.
Those are pretty much all of the significant plot point of Whipers at Moonrise. There are of course other characters Perry. Sara: who still knows that Kylie has something to do with her no longer having cancer. Kylie's mom and stepdad. Kylie's mom's creeper boyfriend John...who I think something more will turn up with him after Burnett runs that background check on him.
If I happened to miss something that you think should be added... just leave a comment and I'll make sure to put it in ASAP. :) Hope this helped.
