Book I'm Most Grateful For...

Beth Revis is holding an awesome giveaway which you can get to below. It's a great opportunity which you should definitely go check out!!

So for this giveaway I would like to talk about the book that I am most grateful for...

The Harry Potter Series

Technically I would choose the first book but really it's the whole series as one story in my mind. That series changed my life. It gives everyone a place to escape to and it made magic real. I felt so close to the characters and I could read it over and over and over again and I would always discover something new that I had forgotten about. The characters were realistic and fun and I love spending time with them. I read at least one of these books every year (It's more like a non-stop re-reading loop honestly) usually around Christmas time. It makes me feel at home and I will never forget the first time I read the first Harry Potter. I seriously re-read it three or four times in a row, that's how much I loved it. I've never loved a book as much as I've loved this series and I don't think I will ever find one I enjoy as much or more than this series. I will forever be grateful for this book because it is one of my all-time favorites.

Can't Stop Gushing About...

This is a meme that me and Del have begun to host and this will be my first time trying it out. Lately I've been thinking back to the Luxe series and how much I loved the first book in the series (not that the others were bad, I just loved the first one the most). So today I would like to gush about

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

I first read this book when I was a senior in high school and throughout the following years I ended up reading it two more times. I love history and I had never really been acquainted with New York City in the 1890'2- early 1900's but Godbersen really made that world come alive. I fell in love with it; all the parties, dresses, handsome men, gossip... not that I would ever want to live in that time because everything was chosen for you, however, it all appears very glamorous. The characters were also very real and rebellious. I felt very close to several of them and the others I hated because they were so devious (which is a good thing. If you don't hate the evil people, then the author isn't doing their job). I loved the intrigue and the romance... oh the romance. Will is wonderful and perfect and Henry is the classic bad boy that everyone wants. Two wonderful guys to daydream about. The research Godbersen did with the newspaper and book clippings was wonderful and the writing flowed really well. I had no idea what was coming or how things would end up how they were apparently supposed to (the prologue gives you a small taste of the ending without giving anything away) and I am rarely surprised by endings. While I wasn't a HUGE fan of the ending of the series and a few choices made for characters in later books (a whole other story that I won't dive into here), this first book was wonderful to me and I could re-read this book for forever. I highly recommend people reading this one, though be warned, it will MAKE you want to read the following books which are sadder and pessimistic. So unless you enjoy that type of book, just be prepared for it; I wasn't.  Though the saddness does make a lot of sense if you look at the story realistically and from the perspective of the time period... Anyway! LOVED this book. You should read it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Shelf Candy

Shelf Candy is a fun meme hosted by Five Alarm Book reviews that usually takes place (at least for us here at DeLibrarie) on Saturday. So I'm about an hour or so late on this post but I have nothing in my mailbox to blog about.....:(..........so I decided to do this instead! My choice for great shelf candy today is The Light by D.J. MacHale.

The Light by D. J. MacHale

I love this cover because it is so dark and creepy. It really speaks to the story (or so I've heard). I can't WAIT to read it and I might just pick it up this Halloween to celebrate the holiday. But I love the spooky factor in the cover and the dark menacing feel it gives yet not in a truly scary, I don't want to look at this cover way... It makes me want to read it. I think it's also cooler in person, too because it's a lot reder... at least my copy is. So I hope you enjoy this cover as much as I do and seriously, go out and read this! I have ONLY heard good things :)

Freaken Hot Fridays: Angel Books

It's Friday, Friday, Gotta get down on... ok sorry. So Nic and I have been brainstorming about some new memes we could do for the days that we didn't have a meme scheduled. We came up with a meme called Freaken Hot Fridays, which is really just an excuse to talk about whatever we very well please ;) (because we can't do that every other day of the week?) Also, don't forget to enter our First Giveaway Ever!

So what do I think is really hot? This week its...

ANGEL BOOKS

I'm sick of Vampires, I'm sick of Werewolves, I'm sick of ghosts...the one type of Paranormal Romance book that I never, ever get sick of, no matter how many of them I read... is angel books. I don't know what it is about them but I just love them. Some of my favorites...
I love that the main character is the angel instead of just falling in love with an angel. :)  I love the story line... I just love this book. I'm really excited for the next one to come out.
No surprise here. This is one of my favorite series. I love the forbidden love story between Daniel and Luce. I love the Nephilim school, I love Cam and Gabe and Arianne and Roland. I just love all the angelic things in this series.
Patch. *sighs Oh Patch. I don't really even have much more of an explanation on this one...

These are my Personal Favorites, but of course there are many, many more. Do you have some favorite angel books?

Can't Stop Gushing About...

As I've mentioned before, sometimes Nic and I really like a meme and sometimes we get bored with it and it doesn't last long... more importantly we LOVE trying out new memes. SO, we came up with a new meme that we are going to try out for a while called Can't Stop Gushing About... in which we will talk about a book that has been out for a while that we can't stop thinking about, want to read again, or loved so much that we want everyone else to know how great it is. I'm sure we will also be using Not book things on occasion too, like movies or music, or hey maybe photography. This week I'll be talking about a series that I read years ago... but I'm still madly in love with it, and it's still arguably my favorite series of all time....

Can't Stop Gushing About...

The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray

I think Libba Bray is a genius. I love the way that she blends historical fiction and fantasy and horror into one (well 3) beautiful story. I love the characters and how real they feel. Most of all, I love that I never saw any of the twists coming. I just love this series. I highly recommend it.

Waiting on Wednesday

Good morning and happy Wednesday! Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine. I have a love/hate relationship with WoW. I LOVE  looking at all of the books in my 'waiting' shelf on goodreads (unpublished books that I can't wait for). I HATE looking at all of the books in my 'waiting' shelf. :( I get so excited to read these books and then I realize how long I have to wait... but that's the life of the in-the-know book lover. We know what is coming, we know what we want, and then we wait months and months and months for them. This weeks WoW is a book that I'm sure I've done before- but when thinking of what I was MOST anxious for... this is seriously the only book that kept creeping into the forefront of my mind... I am SOO excited to read this one.

Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary powers as a demon, The Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies- The Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down Prodigium. Or at least that's what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn't as confident.

Sophie's bound for one hell of a ride- can she get her powers back before it's too late?

I'm really excited for this book... but much like most of my other much anticipated books coming out in the next year... it's the last book in one of my favorite series. I have really mixed feelings about actually reading it... I don't want them to end. Maybe Rachel Hawkins will pull a Becca Fitzpatrick and make it a four book series... hey a girl can dream right?

Teaser Tuesday

It's Tuesday... and for some I'm sure that is great news. (Glee AND The New Girl are on today!) For me however, it means I don't have time to eat because I'm in class or working or at choir sectionals ALL DAY LONG. BUT my one saving grace is of course Teaser Tuesday!!! This week I'm reading Mockingjay ( Well more like casually reading a page in between classes). I'm trying to read this one slow because it's the last book in the series... and we all know how sad endings are. Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading....

"Positioned on my dresser, that white-as-snow rose is a personal message to me.
It speaks of unfinished business. It whispers, I can find you. I can reach you. Perhaps I am watching you now."

If you haven't read these books, You really should. Even if they've been on your TBR pile for a while and you just haven't gotten around to them yet...read them soon. The movie is coming out in February and I guarantee this is not a book that you should just "wait for the movie to see." (Not that any of us YA book lovers would ever do that ;)) Hunger Games is amazing!

Time Will Come

Happy Monday!!!! It's Monday right? I've been so lost on the dates lately. Well I'm sitting in my schools Fine Arts Building (THE FA), in the middle of the hallway, on my laptop... and the only thing I can think of to do... is post a  TIME WILL COME meme, hosted by Books For Company.

Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

The only reason that I haven't read this book yet... is because I don't want the series to end. :( I love this series and I tend to avoid finality. So this book has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of months and I'm just scared to even look at the first page. I know I'm going to love it... I've looked a few reviews and they say the ending is great... but I'm a little hesitant because I don't want the series to end.

Other series I'm dreading the end to: Hush,Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Wings by Aprilynne Pike, Fallen by Lauren Kate, Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, and Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (luckily I've got a couple years left for that one)

What are some series that you are dreading the end to?

Fourth Hush,Hush??

I mentioned this briefly in my last post (review of Silence) that Becca Fitzpatrick announced that there will be a fourth Hush,Hush book.

http://www.beccafitzpatrick.com/

I haven't decided how I feel about it yet. I'm obviously really excited that I get to read more about Patch and Nora... but at the same time I've been preparing myself for a year now. Silence was always supposed to be the end. I was preparing myself for "THE END." Now that I find out that it isn't... I don't know I just feel a little weird about it. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather she write more... I love Patch and Nora, and I was a little disappointed with Silence as the last book. What do you all think?

Review'd: Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Book Review:
Title: Silence
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Release date: Oct. 4 2011, Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing
Rating: 5 stars

Goodreads Summary:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced hear-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for- and their love- forever.

DeLibrarie (del) Review:
I think it might be a three way tie between Fallen, Hush Hush, and The Gemma Doyle series for my overall favorite YA series. I loved Silence... the only reason that it didn't get 5 stars is because it didn't feel like a final book to me... It felt more like a book leading up to the final epic story. It was still really good, but I felt like we really didn't learn many new things, the book was mostly Nora remembering the 5 months that she had forgotten. Don't get me wrong it's a super fast, epic, fun read... but to me it was just missing the amount of EPICNESS that needs to be in a final book, especially a final book of a series that is this popular.

Later Added: maybe it sounded like a book leading into the final book... because it is... I just did a little research and found out that there is going to be another Hush,Hush book, and BECAUSE the only reason that I gave it four stars originally was because I felt like the series was left unfinished... I'm giving it 5 stars now that I know it isn't the ending.

Waiting on Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! Jill from Breaking the Spine hosts a wonderful meme every week called Waiting on Wednesday where us YA book type can gush about the books that we can't wait to get our hands on. This week I'll be obsessing over Kiss of Frost by Jennifer Estep which is the second book in the Mythos Academy  series. I just finished reading the Hunger Games and Catching Fire so I would use a little romantic mythology right now, and I really really enjoyed the first book in this series... Touch of Frost. Check out my review in the Archives section. :) Anyway without further ado..... WOW

Logan Quinn was trying to kill me. My Spartan classmate relentlessly pursued me, swinging his sword at me over and over again, the shining silver blade inching closer to my throat every time. A smile tugged up his lips, and his ice-blue eyes practically glowed with the thrill of battle...

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart — the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword — with Logan’s help — I just might die by the sword …

Shelf Candy

I haven't read this book or its prequel (Once a Witch) yet...though I intend to...but when I saw this particular cover, I fell in love. It is so GORGEOUS! And I hear that everything in it has meaning which makes it twice as awesome because it's not just random; it says something about the book. So I can't wait to read this series, if only to be able to look at this cover every day :)

Always a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough

Seriously, cannot wait to read this series... Which cover do you think is better? This one or the first one, Once a Witch?
