Can't Stop Gushing About...

Lately, I've been watching a little bit of TV. (Which is unusual considering my lack of time to do so) However, I've been pretty regularly watching some of my favorite shows. (Thank you DVR!!!) I've been watching some of the oldies: Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Glee, and How I Met Your Mother, and some of the really great new shows like Smashed and New Girl. My favorite new show... that I will be gushing about this week is...

Once Upon a Time!!!

This show really isn't like anything else that I've seen before on TV. (With one big exception being the mini-series The 10th Kingdom that was aired in 2000) I really enjoy that every character has a different story, and each episode covers a different character and their fairy tale. Some of my favorite episodes include:
Red Handed - which is the REAL story of Little Red Riding Hood. This episode is amazing it balances out just the right amount of fairy tale, suspense and creepy. I love how the writers have so effortlessly woven all the fairy tales together. Red Riding Hood is friends with Snow White. Snow White's Prince is betrothed to Midas' daughter. The genie in the lamp is really the man in the magic mirror. I just love the creativity behind the show. The costumes are stunning, the scenery is so vibrant and stunning.

Seriously, If you haven't started watching this show yet... you really should. Everyone that I've met that has started it... has become hooked.

Waiting on Wednesday

I can't wait for May because not only does that mean school will be OVER!!! for me, but it also means that Until I Die by Amy Plum will finally be out!! I LOVE this series, and there's only been one book so far. I mean, not only are both covers to DIE for (haha, die, like from the titles... that was unintentional), but the story is so well-written and beautiful, too! When I first got my hands on Die for Me, I didn't know what to expect, but once I started reading I COULD NOT put it down... the characters were incredibly realistic and relateable, the story was unpredictable and heart-stopping, and the originality of the plot was like a breath of fresh air. I have been counting down the days for Until I Die to be released but the closer I get to it the more anxious I get about not having it yet. If you haven't read this one yet, you REALLY should. So thank you to Jill of Breaking the Spine who hosts this meme and now I would like to present... Until I Die. Due to be published May 8th 2012. Mark your calendars!!!

Isn't that cover just gorgeous?? I can't wait for it to be sitting on my shelf :)

Review'd: Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

Book Review:
Title: Spell Bound (Hex Hall 3)
Author: Rachel Hawkins
Published: March 13th, Hyperion Book CH
Rating: 5 Stars

Goodreads Summary:
Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies- the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the prodigium. Or at least that's what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn't as confident.

Sophie's bound for one hell of a ride- can she get her powers back before it's too late?

DeLibrarie (Del) Review:
This series is fantastic! After I received my copy of Spell Bound... I just stared at it for a while, not sure if I should start it knowing that I it's the end of one of my favorite stories. Once I started it, it was nearly impossible to put it down. Hawkins keeps her story so fast paced that you sit down to start the book and all of a sudden you realize you only have a few pages yet. I can't even express to you all how much I love Sophie. She is by far my favorite heroine; she's strong, snarky as hell, and doesn't dwell on her problems... she just goes in to try and solve them. I will recommend this series until the day I die... I am so sad it's done.

In My Mailbox

HEY GUYS!!! So I know I have been incredibly remiss in making posts on here. Much more so than Del. I'm sorry about that... What can I say, school literally eats away at my time. Plus, I'm working on something secret but blog related that has been taking away some of my time as well. But on to the matter at hand... I've been getting books since December and I thought I would show some of them for The Story Siren's awesome meme! For Christmas I got the following:

Eve by Anna Carey

Spellbound Cara Lynn Shultz

And several other ones that aren't Young Adult.

In January, Del and my brother both lent me several books as well and they are:

Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep

A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn

Reckless by Cornelia Funke

The Forest of Adventures by Katie M. John

Seeing Red by Frank Beddor (so I can reread it in preparation for Arch Enemy!)

I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

There have been a lot more borrowed and bought over the past few months but if I included them all then this would be one HUGE post. So I think I'll save them for later :)

I always love getting new books though, don't you? What did you get this week?

Review'd: Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

Book Review:
Title: Pandemonium (Delirium 2)
Author: Lauren Oliver
Published February 28th, 2012 by Harper Teen
Rating: 5 Stars

Goodreads Summary:
I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
Pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
Pushing aside thoughts of Hanna and my old school,
Push,
Push,
Push,
Like Raven taught me to.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
Behind a wall of smoke and flame.

DeLibrarie (Del) Review:
One of the downfalls of loving books so much is the waiting. I feel like I'm always waiting. Waiting for title reveals. Waiting for cover reveals. Waiting for synopsis reveals. and OF COURSE waiting for the book itself to be released. This book is probably the one that I've waited for with the least amount of patience. I LOVED  ... no LOVE... Delirium. The ending is just so breathtaking that one can't NOT love it. The moment I finished it, I longed for the next one, and I know I wasn't alone in that longing. I'm warning you... You will be just as (maybe even more) jarred by this ending. I vaguely remember feeling like parts of the book seemed a little slow, I never got bored but more than once I felt my mind wander away from the book... but it is impossible for me to give Oliver's books any less that 5 stars because her endings are just so moving. They leave me aching to find out how Lena is going to handle the next obstacle thrown her way.
