Review'd: Drink Slay Love by Sarah Beth Durst

Goodreads Summary:
Pearl is a sixteen-year-old vampire... fond of blood, allergic to sunlight, and mostly evil... until the night a sparkly unicorn stabs her through the heart with his horn. Oops.

Her family thinks she was attacked by a vampire hunter (because, obviously, unicorns don't exist), and they're shocked she survived. They're even more shocked when Pearl discovers she can now withstand the sun. But they quickly find a way to make use of her new talent. The Vampire King of New England has chosen Pearl's family to host his feast. If Pearl enrolls in high school, she can make lots of human friends and lure them to the King's feast -- as the entrees.

The only problem? Pearl's starting to feel the twinges of a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends—especially the cute guy who makes her fangs ache—to be slaughtered? Then again, she's definitely dead if she lets down her family. What's a sunlight-loving vamp to do?

DeLibrarie (Del) Review: After I read the Twilight series and Infinite Days, I told myself I would NOT read another Vampire book... simply because I was sick of hearing about them and ready for new fresh ideas. I was fooled by the lack of vampires mentioned in the synopsis of Haven... so I read that Vampire book... and then I also read The Vampire Stalker... but vampires are ACTUALLY evil in that one so i don't really count it. Then there's this one... I don't know what it was about the synopsis... maybe it was the mention of a sparkly unicorn stabbing a vampire in the chest... ok that was definitely why. :) I was pleasantly surprised with this book, it was predictable and a bit cheesy at times but it was always entertaining and the writing flowed nicely making it an easy, enjoyable read. I'm glad I broke my 'No More Vamp Books' rule for this one. :) Solid 4 Stars.
