Review'd: Fury by Elizabeth Miles

Book Review:
Title: Fury
Author: Elizabeth Miles
Published: August 30th by Simon Pulse

Goodreads Summary:
Sometimes sorry isn't enough....
It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.
Em and Chase have been chosen.

DeLibrarie Review:
I try not to make my reviews incredibly spoilery... but I can't really explain what I did and didn't like about this book without giving some key plot points away... so ... sorry. Overall this was a GOOD book, but I felt like I was more annoyed that I enthralled. The main characters, Emily and Chase, do some not so great things (Chase= bully someone to the point of suicide, and Emily= Fool around with her bff's bf) and now they are being followed around by the furies: 3 daemons bent on dishing out what people deserve. Ok so Chase, I understand why the furies kill him. A girl died because of him... but Emily just fooled around with Zach, while yes that's bad... if those were the only qualifications to being haunted by the Furies... my whole graduating class would be dead. Not saying we were all fooling around behind our friends back... that IS bad... but teenagers are selfish and make mistakes... this doesn't really constitute the Furies trying to kill the people that you love. I don't understand how Emily screwing over Gabby equals the Furies killing JD... ALSO... I was super annoyed that during this whole plot line the only actual asshole in the story, Zach, was off the hook. Zach can be an ass to everyone, and cheat on Gabby not only with her best friend, but also with every other girl he can get his hands on, and not be on the Furies radar but Chase and Emily are?! yea yea yea, the last chapter clues in on Zach's future with the furies but still... Emily and Chase shouldn't have been chosen over him. Ok i'm done ranting... other than those loop holes that irritated me... the book was written really well and Ty, especially was a really cool character and I'm looking forward to reading the next one strictly because of her.
