Review'd: Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Book Review:
Title: Supernaturally
Author: Kiersten White
Published on July 27th, 2011 by Harper Collins

Barnes and Noble Summary:

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be . . . kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.
But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.
So much for normal.
DeLibrarie Review:
I really want to love this series... but I just don't. The way that Kiersten White writes is super conversational and entertaining...but I can't handle just snarky witticism for 300 plus pages. It seems like Evie doesn't ever take anything seriously because she handles everything with such a light sarcasm. It's just hard to relate to a character who is so impersonal, and well...unbelievable. I liked Paranormalcy enough but Supernaturally was a struggle for me... it wasn't my usual "OMG... when can I find time to read?!!?" it was more of a "Well... I suppose I should read so I can get through this book." I was never excited about the story and frankly I found it really predictable, cliche and safe.
